Badrinath Badrinath: While traveling with Travel Point India, visit the holy Dhama temple of Badrinath situated in the state of Uttaranchal. The temple is located at a height of 10,248 feet and situated above the Alaknanda River, believed to be a headstream of the holy River Ganges. Badrinath is an 8th century monastery and a temple to the Hindu God Shiva. Sankaracharya, the great Indian scholar and teacher holds the credit to develop this popular India pilgrimage center. Adjacent to the shrine is the hot spring pool of Taptakund in which pilgrims take a dip before worshipping Sri Badrinatha.

There is a special mention about Kadarnath in the great epic of Mahabharata. Lord Shiva eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. The lingam at Kedarnath is pyramidal, unlike its usual form. A statue of Nandi - the celestial bull stands at the entrance of the temple and exquisitely carved image adorn the interiors of the temple.You can start your trek to Kedarnath from Gaurikund. From here to Rambara, the trek follows the River Mandakini through the forests. While touring for Kedarnath you can take a 14 kms. long trek from Gaurikund.

According to mythology, Goddess Ganga manifested herself in the form of a river to absolve the sins of king Bhagirath's predecessors, following his severe penance of several centuries. Yamunotri covers one of the main pilgrimage centers on your travel to Char Dhams along with Badrinath, Kedarnath and Gangotri. Considered one of the most significant journey for Hindus, pilgrims undertake a laborious trek to the Yamunotri Temple in search of the divine.
