Cellular Jail: Visit this three-storeyed prison, constructed by the British in 1906, on your travel to Andaman and Nicobar. This jail is a pilgrim destination for freedom fighters. This colossal edifice has mutely witnessed the most treacherous of inhumane atrocities borne by the convicts, who were mostly freedom fighters. Now dedicated to the nation as a National Memorial, it houses a spectacular sound and light show, besides a museum and art gallery.

From mid-May to October, heavy rains flush the islands, often bringing violent cyclones that leave the west coast beaches strewn with fallen trees. In November and December less severe rains arrive with the northeast monsoon. The best time to visit these islands is between mid November and April.
