Minicoy: This Island is about 10.6 kms long and is the second longest island. It is a crescent shaped and one of the largest lagoons situated in southern part of Lakshadweep. The island has systematically arranged village system known as 'Avah'; each 'Avah' is a cluster of houses, which is headed by an elected elderly man called Bodukaka. Each village has a house beautifully decorated and maintained. Minicoy island is an important center for tuna fishing. Kadmat: Kadmat is 8kms long and 550 meters wide at the broadcast point. The best months to visit Lakshadweep are from January to the middle of May when the diving and fishing is good but it's possible to visit any time in the year. By Air the usual way to get to Lakshadweep is to fly from Kochi in Kerala to Agatti Island. The airport takes Donears and helicopters, which allows only up to 10 kg baggage weight per person. Another way is to take a cruise from Cochin to all the islands that are open to tourists.
