Mattupetty: Situated at a height of 1700 m, Mattupetty is famous for its highly specialized dairy farm, the Indo-Swiss live stock project. Over 100 varieties of high yielding cattle are reared here. Visitors are allowed into three of the eleven cattle sheds at the farm.

Pothamedu: Pothamedu offers excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations of Munnar. The rolling hills, the lush mountain and the breathtaking scenery are ideal for trekking and long mountain walks.

Devikulam: This idyllic hill station with its velvet lawns, exotic flora and fauna and the cool mountain air is a rare experience. The Sita Devi Lake with its mineral waters and picturesque surroundings is a good picnic spot. The lake is also ideal for trout fishing.

Eravikulam National Park: The 97 sq. km. park is situated in the Devikulam Taluk and is home to the Nilgiri Tahr. The Anamudi peak (2695 m) is located in the Southern region of the park. Originally established to protect the Nilgiri tahr (Nilgiri Ibex), the Eravikulam National Park is situated in the Devikulam Taluk of the Idukki District. It was declared as a sanctuary in 1975.

Periyar, Munnar Thekkady (Periyar): On your travel to Munnar you can visit Thekkady, situated at 65 km from Idukki is one of finest wildlife reserves in India. The city is famous for its wildlife reserve. Thekkady Wild life Sanctuary is located in Idukki in the beautiful and picturesque state of Kerala. It lies on the Western Ghats and is approximately 4000-5000 ft above sea level. This bird sanctuary is a peninsula type land of 25 sq. km formed between the various branches of River Periyar. The Periyar River is rich in fish life and is shallow for most of the year. The fauna at this beautiful place includes both resting indigenous birds and water birds. The most notable of the birds here are Malabar grey hornbill, grey jungle fowl, heron, egret, jungle myna, woodpecker, rose winged and blue winged parakeet. Rare and exotic birds like Ceylon frogmouth, rose-billed roller etc. are also seen.

It can also be reached from Madurai and Coimbatore, which are located in the state of Tamil Nadu. The best time to visit Munnar is between September and May. In summer the temperatures in the High Range stand between 15°C to 25°C. In winter, temperatures are between 0°C to 15°C.
