Introduction: Kerala birding tour takes you to some of the well-known and popular sanctuaries in Kerala. Kerala Birding Tour begins from Cochin and passes through Periyar Tiger Reserve, Munnar, Chinar Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary.
Day 01 Arrive Cochin
Transfer to Kumarakom resort for lunch and orientation from Kochi airport. Stroll along the Kumarakom bird sanctuary in the afternoon.
Day 02 Cochin - Periyar
Early get up in the morning for bird watching in the lagoon. Drive to Periyar Tiger Reserve (100 km). Accommodation at Estate lodge/Forest lodge. In the afternoon proceed for walk in the estate.
Day 03 Periyar - Munnar
Enjoy wildlife and birds on a boat ride at Periyar Lake. The sanctuary is home to about 266 different birds. Watch Malabar hornbill, grey heron, jungle fowl and jungle mynah or aquatic birds like the white-necked stork, darter, kingfishers and cormorants, which are a common sight. After lunch, drive to Munnar and tour the Estate for a plantation walk. Overnight at estate lodge.
Day 04 Munnar
Early morning proceed to Kallar for bird watching. Packed lunch and back at Munnar by sunset. Campfire and night at estate lodge.
Day 05 Munnar- Parambikulam
Drive to Chinnar wildlife sanctuary for bird watching in the morning. Field lunch and move to Parambikulam. Night stay at forest lodge or hotel according to availability.
Day 06 Parambikulam
Explore Parambikulam and watch wildlife and birds.
Day 07 Parambikulam- Wyanad
Reach Vythiri near Wyanad by lunch and stay atop tree house. Take a leisurely nature walk and see cuckoos, owl, woodpeckers, and jungle fowls.
Day 08 Wyanad - Tholapatty
Drive to Tholpatty wildlife sanctuary in the morning and watch peacocks, babblers, apart from other wild animals. Return to Vythiri.
Day 09 Tholapatty - Kozikhode Departure
Travel to Kozhikode for onward flight.
